20 Changes For 20 Days
Ready for a challenge? It's time to try 20 changes over 20 days. Here's how it works...
I want you to write down 20 bad habits or things you would like to change. The goal here is to analyze your lifestyle and make a list of anything you feel you need to improve. These changes have to be actionable, meaning there are defined steps you can take to improve your health and wellbeing.
Here are some examples:
- Go to bed by 10 p.m. each night.
- Limit alcohol consumption to two drinks per week.
- Cut back on smoking by 10 cigarettes per day.
- Stop eating fast food.
- Walk an hour each week.
- Limit television use to one hour per day.
- Eat more veggies.
Your changes can be as general or specific as you'd like. The goal is to encourage healthier lifestyle choices and to challenge ourselves over the next 20 days.
Can you stick to YOUR changes for 20 straight days? Most of us can do anything for a short period of time.
If you want an extra challenge, once you hit 20 days see how many extra days you can. Don't focus on this extra challenge now, though. Focus on 20 changes for 20 days.
Don't rule out changes that can help improve stress, anxiety, and mental health. Our mental health is just as important as our physical health. No change that works towards a better physical and mental state of wellbeing should be ruled out.
The key to longterm success isn't found in quick fixes; we need to focus on lifestyle changes. Change isn't always easy, of course. Some folks are able to flip a switch and turn their lives around immediately.
For most of us, though, change is a fight. It requires focus, daily effort, discipline, and a gradual movement from bad habits to better habits. Please don't forget this. Set goals and never quit, even if you have a rough day or make a mistake.
The goal here is to see what you can accomplish in 20 days.
I also want you to understand that in the long run perfection doesn't exist, but balance does. Once you have turned the corner and enacted new lifestyle habits you know exactly what the standards are when you make your next choice.
